COUNCILMEMBER HOLMGREN SECONDED THE <br />MOTION. THE MOTION CARRIED 4-0. <br /> <br />The Building and Zoning Administrator requested that Gary Schmitz be <br />appointed to the County Shade Tree Board. <br /> <br />COUNCILMEMBER KROPUENSKE MOVED TO APPOINT GARY SCHMITZ, THE CITY <br />RECYCLING COORDINATOR, TO THE SHERBURNE COUNTY SHADE TREE BOARD. <br />COUNCILMEMBER HOLMGREN SECONDED THE MOTION. THE MOTION CARRIED 4-0. <br /> <br />Gary Schmitz stated that he had met with the local businesses in the <br />area regarding Earth Day and questioned the Council whether the City <br />had any plans regarding this activity. Gary Schmitz indicated that he <br />would be willing to work with the City and with the local businesses in <br />order to implement a program for Earth Day. <br /> <br />It was the consensus of the Council to have Gary present at the EDA <br />meeting on 4/9/90 to present ideas regarding Earth Day. <br /> <br />6. Check Re~ister <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />COUNCILMEMBER HOLMGREN MOVED TO APPROVE THE CHECK REGISTER. <br />COUNCILMEMBER KROPUENSKE SECONDED THE MOTION. THE MOTION CARRIED 4-0. <br /> <br />7.1 City Float <br /> <br />Councilmember Kropuenske stated that through a joint effort with the <br />Chamber of Commerce, the Elk River Jaycees and the City of Elk River, a <br />City of Elk River float has originated. Councilmember Kropuenske <br />distributed a drawing of the float and the cost breakdown of the <br />float. He stated that the float would cost $1,850 plus an additional <br />$500 for costumes. He requested help to pay for the float from the <br />City. <br /> <br />COUNCILMEMBER HOLMGREN MOVED TO PAY THE ESTIMATED $1,850 FOR THE <br />CONSTRUCTION OF THE CITY OF ELK RIVER FLOAT TO COME OUT OF EDA <br />PROMOTIONAL FUNDS. COUNCILMEMBER SCHULDT SECONDED THE MOTION. THE <br />MOTION CARRIED 4-0. <br /> <br />It was the consensus of the Council that the remaining $500 for the <br />costumes would be picked up by the Jaycees and the Chamber of Commerce. <br /> <br />7.2 <br /> <br />Lake Orono <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />Mayor Tralle stated that he and Councilmember Kropuenske had met with <br />the Lake Orono Homeowner's Association regarding a verbal proposal from <br />a dredging consultant. Mayor Tralle stated that the City's Engineer <br />was also present and that the consultant would be visiting and touring <br />the City with the Engineer to look at the options regarding the <br />dredging of Lake Orono.
