A principal use may be either permitted or conditional. <br />Variance, unless otherwise defined in another division (for example, floodplain management) <br />means a modification or variation of the provisions of this chapter as provided in section 30-325. <br />Veterinary clinic means any facility maintained by or for the use of a licensed veterinarian in the <br />diagnosis, treatment, or prevention of animal diseases wherein the overnight care of said animals is <br />prohibited except when necessary in the medical treatment of the animal. <br /> <br />Vision clearance triangle means the area of a corner lot bounded by the right-of-way lines and a <br />line connecting the two points on the property lines 30 feet from the intersection of the property <br />lines. <br />Warehouse space means the space used for storing merchandise or commodities. The area <br />occupied by the act of shipping or receiving merchandise shall not be included in the floor area <br />calculation for warehouse space. <br />Water-oriented accessory structure or facility means a small, aboveground building or other <br />improvement, except stairways, fences, docks, and retaining walls, which, because of the relationship <br />of its use to a surface water feature, reasonably needs to be located closer to public waters than the <br />normal structure setback. Examples of such structures and facilities include boathouses, gazebos, <br />screen houses, fish houses, pump houses, and detached decks. <br />Water sports facility means a facility where non-motorized water activities such as, but not limited <br />to, wake boards, knee boards, and water skis, are powered by a secondary power source. <br />Wayside stand means a structure used for the seasonal retail sale of agricultural goods, <br />floriculture, and horticulture produced by the operator of the wayside stand. The operator of the <br />stand must provide written permission of the property owner to the city. <br />Weeds are noxious weeds as defined and designated pursuant to the "Minnesota noxious weed <br />law", Minnesota Statutes, Section 18.76-18.88, as amended from time to time. <br />Wetland, as used in article VI, division 13, of this chapter, means land that is annually subject to <br />periodic or continual inundation by water, commonly referred to as a bog, swamp, or marsh. <br />Wetland means a surface water feature classified as a wetland in the United States Fish and <br />Wildlife Service Circular No. 39 (1971 edition) or as defined in Minn. Stats. § 103F.612, subd. 1. <br />Wetland buffer strip is an area of vegetated ground cover around the perimeter of a wetland that, <br />either in its natural condition or through intervention, has the characteristics of a buffer as <br />previously defined. <br />Wind turbine means a machine that converts the kinetic energy in the wind into a usable form. <br />Wholesale business means an establishment or place of business primarily engaged in selling <br />and/or distributing merchandise to retailers; to industrial, commercial, institutional, or professional <br />business users, or to other wholesalers; or acting as agents or brokers and buying merchandise for, <br />or selling merchandise to, such individuals or companies. <br /> <br />Yard means an open space on the same lot with a building or structure, which is unoccupied <br />and unobstructed from the ground up except for accessory structures or as otherwise permitted by <br />city ordinance.
