<br />Lot, double frontage, means a lot of which opposite ends abut on a street.
<br />Lot width means the horizontal distance between side lot lines, measured at the required front
<br />setback line.
<br />Lot area. In R-1a unsewered and A-1 zoning districts, lot area means the horizontal land area
<br />within the lot lines but not including any land within a public right-of-way or any area occupied by
<br />rivers, streams, or lakes. The buildable area shall be contiguous and shall be a minimum of one acre
<br />in area. In all other zoning districts, lot area means the horizontal land area within the lot lines, but
<br />not including any land within a public right-of-way or any area occupied by rivers, streams, or lakes.
<br />Lot coverage means the total allowable amount of lot area, expressed as a percentage, which may
<br />be covered by a principal use and its accessory structures.
<br />Lot of record means any lot or unit of land in an auditor's subdivision or a registered land survey
<br />for which a deed, plat, auditor's subdivision or registered land survey has been recorded in the office
<br />of the register of deeds or registrar of titles for the county.
<br />Lower facade means the portion of the facade that includes the storefront, the transom and the
<br />stringcourse.
<br />Lowest floor means the lowest floor of the lowest enclosed area (including basement). An
<br />unfinished or flood resistant enclosure, used solely for parking of vehicles, building access, or
<br />storage in an area other than a basement area, is not considered a building's lowest floor.
<br />Mail order operation means an establishment that is primarily organized to promote, receive, and
<br />fill requests for merchandise or services through the mail.
<br />Maintenance, as used in article III of this chapter, means upkeep of property and equipment in a
<br />safe working condition for which it was installed and/or constructed.
<br />Maintenance, as used in article VI, division 5, subdivision II, of this chapter, means the cleaning
<br />and painting of a sign in a manner that does not alter the basic copy, design, or structure of the sign.
<br />Mansard means a sloped roof or roof-like facade architecturally comparable to a building wall.
<br />Manufactured home, unless otherwise defined in another division (for example floodplain
<br />management), means a structure, not affixed to or part of real estate, transportable in one or more
<br />sections, which in the traveling mode is eight feet or more in width or 40 feet or more in length, or,
<br />when erected on-site, is 320 or more square feet, and which is built on a permanent chassis and
<br />designed to be used as a dwelling with or without a permanent foundation when connected to the
<br />required utilities, and includes the plumbing, heating, air conditioning, and electrical system
<br />contained in it. A manufactured home is a dwelling. The term "manufactured home" does not
<br />include the term "recreational vehicle".
<br />Manufacturing, heavy, means a use engaged in the basic processing, manufacturing, packaging,
<br />assembly, compounding or treatment of materials or products predominantly from extracted or raw
<br />materials, or a use engaged in storage of or manufacturing processes using flammable or explosive
<br />materials, or storage or manufacturing processes that potentially involve hazardous or commonly
<br />recognized offensive conditions.
<br />Manufacturing, light, means a use engaged in the manufacture, fabrication, processing, packaging
<br />or assembly, predominantly from previously prepared materials, of finished products or parts, but
