Parks&Recreation Commission Minutes Page 2 • <br /> May 10,2017 <br /> 6.2 Woodland Trails Regional Park Acquisition <br /> Mr. Hecker presented his staff report. <br /> Commissioner Niziolek asked about community center building,being in the center of <br /> Elk River it has potential with a lot of commercial and homes there in 20-25 years. <br /> Adding that it could be a potential site to enhance the park with playground, trail head, <br /> community center. <br /> Commission members discussed ideas of what to use the area for if purchased. Athletic <br /> fields, skate park, trail head,playground, sledding hill, gathering area. <br /> Chair Anderson stated this is an opportunity to look into explore. <br /> 7. Parks and Recreation Director Update <br /> Mr. Hecker presented his staff report. Option 1B got the most attention due to softball <br /> being moved to Lion John Weicht Park. City and School District are in discussions <br /> regarding the concept. <br /> Chair Anderson stated that there has been an agreement with the Lions Club to not have • <br /> organized sports at Lion John Weicht Park, and asked if they are onboard. <br /> Mr. Hecker said the city and school district have been discussing. <br /> 8.1 Recreation Manager's Update <br /> Mr. Benoit presented his staff report. <br /> 8.2 Parks Superintendent's Update <br /> Mr. Sevcik presented his staff report. <br /> 9. Announcements <br /> Commissioner Niziolek had a group of Elk River volunteers to do deer enclosures in <br /> Kliever Lake Park along with planting trees. <br /> 10.
