He indicated <br />property owner would have to make a commitment for a 10 to 15 <br />period for the park and ride site. This information was <br />in a telephone conversation and the City will request a MnDOT <br />this issue. <br /> <br />g. Temporary Help <br /> <br />The City Clerk indicated that she has contacted Temporary Assets and is <br />requesting permission from the Council to hire a temporary receptionist <br />for five to six weeks during the time period that the Building and <br />Zoning Secretary will be gone and the new secretary/Receptionist hired. <br /> <br />COUNCILMEMBER HOLMGREN MOVED TO HIRED A RECEPTIONIST THROUGH TEMPORARY <br />ASSETS FOR A FIVE TO SIX WEEK PERIOD. COUNCILMEMBER KROPUENSKE <br />SECONDED THE MOTION. THE MOTION CARRIED 5-0. <br /> <br />The City Administrator noted that he is proposing that Brenda Ebner <br />and Alice Heinecke fill in for Sharon Maue until the City can hire <br />a new Secretary/Receptionist. He requested that the Council consider <br />authorizing a pay increase during this time period for Brenda and Alice <br />for half the difference from Sharon's salary to Brenda and Alice's <br />salary. <br /> <br />The Council discussed this issue at length and Councilmember's <br />Holmgren, Kropuenske, and Dietz felt that it should be the <br />responsibility of the City employees to take on extra responsibility or <br />extra duties when necessary without receiving extra benefits or pay. <br />The City Administrator indicated that it would be to the City's benefit <br />to train Brenda and Alice for that position so that they can act as <br />backup when needed. Also, the Administrator stated that paying more <br />for work done out of an employees job classification is the common <br />practice in cities and has recently been done in the Police Department. <br /> <br />COUNCILMEMBER KROPUENSKE MOVED TO AUTHORIZE THE PAY INCREASE DURING THE <br />INTERIM PERIOD OF THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE BUILDING AND ZONING <br />SECRETARY'S SALARY AND THE SECRETARY/RECEPTIONIST SALARY DUE TO THE <br />FACT THAT THE TWO CITY EMPLOYEES WILL BE TRAINED IN AS FUTURE BACKUP <br />FOR THE BUILDING AND ZONING DEPARTMENT. COUNCILMEMBER SCHULDT SECONDED <br />THE MOTION. THE MOTION CARRIED 4-0-1. Councilmember Holmgren <br />abstained. <br /> <br />8. Adjournment <br /> <br />There being no further business, <br />ADJOURN THE CITY COUNCIL MEETING. <br />MOTION.
