16
Why RJM Construction?
RJM considers ourselves an extension of the City of Elk River staff. We understand
the project needs from both a function and an aesthetic perspective. Through this
leveled approach, RJM will foster a spirit of collaboration with the project team in
meeting schedule and budget needs, while creating a facility that will serve the
community for years to come.
RJM brings leadership and provides value-based solutions whenever needed.
Our experienced staff anticipates what lies ahead and strives to protect your
interests. Our team keeps the project moving forward and true to your vision.
Project Understanding
With RJM’s significant history of preconstruction work on the Elk River Ice Arena
and Lion John Weicht Park Facilities we know how to make your vision a reality.
Since 2007, RJM has assisted 292 Design Group and JLG Architects with cost
estimating, scheduling, construction sequencing and value engineering. Through
these partners we have provided the City of Elk River our expertise in the decision
to renovate, build new, or relocate sites. The current plan incorporates and
balances the best ideas presented during this preconstruction phase and we are
excited to be your project partner.
With the addition of the Lion John Weicht Park Facilities, the City of Elk River can
further count on RJM’s experience and smooth project execution. We have worked
with several municipalities on both sports fields and park pavilion facilities.
We know that maintaining operations during construction—including access
to all facilities—holds equal importance to successful project completion. Our
understanding of the project phasing, including the shared parking lot and school
land deed process, will be paramount in developing a comprehensive project
schedule.
Ice Arena Experience
RJM has extensive experience working on ice arena projects, and we know how to
skillfully lead the team. Ice arenas are specialized facilities that must withstand
extreme climate fluctuations. In Minnesota, this is especially important during
the summer months. We understand the key components that require careful
consideration in the design and construction of the building envelope including:
• Proper roofing material and insulation to limit condensation
• Under-slab vapor barrier selection and placement to avoid concrete curling
• Dehumidification manufacturers and system balancing to maximize efficiency
and performance
Of equal importance is the performance of the ice plant and playing surface to
make for an enjoyable and competition-level experience for both athletes and
spectators. RJM has also completed many system replacements and refrigeration
updates.
Elk River Ice Arena and Lion John Weicht Park Facilities
Part III: Key Qualifications & Approach
RJM handled
this project with
outstanding service
and delivery. They
thought of every detail,
providing outstanding
communication and
delivery of the work as
if we were their only
client. We appreciate
the outstanding service.
Ann Bourg
Cushman & Wakefield
“ “
