I love the idea as long as they aren't allowed to come park right in front of another restaurant. Otherwise, bring them on.
I've never understood the fear of them and why so many cities have such stringent anti-food truck regulations.
Why wouldn't we went to be part of such a great way to bring culinary treats to the city? There isn't enough diversity at the moment so I
would welcome the chance to see food trucks!
Good idea, but I doubt it will fly. The heads of the Power's that Be in Elk River exploded when that person was selling veggies by the
Dairy Queen.
Variety is nice but just think about all the empty buildings you will have downtown for stores other than restaurants
If anything the placement of where the food trucks can be located could actually bolster the success of shops in their vicinity by drawing
traffic to the area that normally is unnoticed underutilized etc.
I'm ok with it as long as it's regulated
Wow that would be wonderful. I know many employees from our work would go there.
Yes would be great.Just don't make the permit for the food truck so high that no one will come.
I don't think it's a fear necessarily. I think some of it has to do with respecting the businesses that contribute to the tax base and
community as brick-and-mortar businesses. The small restaurants that pay huge SAC &WAC fees, property taxes, provide jobs,
fundraisers for local groups, and places for local folks to congregate and socialize. I love the concept of food trucks. I have
purchased more than my share of grub through the side of a cube van. I'm not against them, however I do completely understand
why people oppose them. What does it say to a Chow Grill that just invested millions that someone can go park in the business
park where their lunch crowd comes from without investing a dime in our community? What does it say to a McCoy's Irish Pub
that's faithfully ground it out through good times and bad in our Downtown while still being active in the community, that we are
willing to let someone pull up in front of Downtown concerts and serve burgers to our citizens before driving back to the Metro?
Again, I don't think anyone is afraid, or dislikes the concept, however it truly adds little to our economy, while hurting the business
we all expect to be there tomorrow. Not to mention the waitstaff that make their living through those restaurants are our friends
and neighbors. I think they should be allowed on private property/lots, or on public property during a permitted special event.I
love food trucks. I just love and value my local business owners and their employees more.
