Russ
Anderson informed the Council that the job would be very time consuming
and that the City should have a full time Fire Marshall as the
inspection of apartments is a continual program. Mayor Duitsman
suggested that the Fire Chief start the program slowly by using one day
per week to inspect apartments. Russ Anderson informed the council
that if he takes on the job of inspecting apartments, other jobs and
duties will be neglected. He further stated that the morale of his
firefighters is important and working with the firefighters is a big
part of his job. Mayor Duitsman requested Russ Anderson to categorize
his other duties and present the list to the City Council.

Steve Dittbenner reviewed the ambulance portion of the Fire and
Ambulance Annual Report. Discussion was held by the Council regarding
the possibility of allowing ambulance workers to participate in the
ambulance program without the requirement of being a member of the fire
department.

Councilmember Dietz arrived at this time (6:56 p.m.).

The Council thanked Russ Anderson, Steve Dittbenner, and Mark
Stutelberg for the presentation of the Fire and Ambulance Annual Report.
