COUNCILMEMBER <br />MOTION CARRIED 5-0. <br /> <br />APPROVE THE REQUEST FOR SIGNAGE AT 508 <br />HOLMGREN SECONDED THE MOTION. THE <br /> <br />5.2. Consider Ordinance Amendment Request by City of Elk River/Produce <br />Markets in C-1 Zones/Public Hearing <br /> <br />Steve Rohlf indicated that staff is requesting the City Council to <br />adopt an ordinance amendment to Section 900.12 of the Elk River City <br />Code which would allow produce markets to be located in a C-1 zone as a <br />conditional use. He further indicated that staff is recommending that <br />the conditional use fee be waived for the proposed Farmer's Market. <br /> <br />Rita JOhnson, Planning Commission Representative, indicated that the <br />Planning Commission voted in favor of this request. <br /> <br />Mayor Duitsman opened the public hearing. There being no one for or <br />against the matter, Mayor Duitsman closed the public hearing. <br /> <br />COUNCILMEMBER FARBER MOVED TO ADOPT ORDINANCE 93-2, AN ORDINANCE <br />AMENDING SECTION 900.12, PERMITTED ACCESSORY AND CONDITIONAL USES BY <br />DISTRICT. COUNCILMEMBER HOLMGREN SECONDED THE MOTION. THE MOTION <br />CARRIED 5-0. <br /> <br />5.3. Other/Tescom Temporary Office Trailer Request <br /> <br />Steve Rohlf, Building and Zoning Administrator, stated that Tescom is <br />requesting to place a trailer on site to use temporarily until their <br />new building is completed. The trailer would be located in an <br />industrial zone. It was the consensus of the Council to authorize <br />staff to draft an ordinance amendment which would allow the use of <br />temporary buildings as a temporary principal use under a conditional <br />use permit in I-I and I-2 zones with the stipulation that the Planning <br />Commission have a chance to review this ordinance amendment. <br /> <br />6.1. Consider Request to Sponsor Grant to Purchase and Rehabilitate the Old <br />Courthouse <br /> <br />John Kuester of the Sherburne County Historical SOCiety, introduced <br />Rolf Anderson of the Preservation Alliance of Minnesota, and Britta <br />Bloomberg of the Minnesota Historical Society. He stated that the City <br />is being requested to sponsor a grant to purchase and rehabilitate the <br />old courthouse and adjacent County Administration building in downtown <br />Elk River. <br /> <br />Discussion was held as to the reasoning for the City to apply for the <br />grant.
