<br />e <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />5.2 <br /> <br />Update on Finance Director Position <br /> <br />The City Administrator advised the City Council that Finance Director Lori Johnson <br />will be accepting the Otsego position and will be resigning with the City of Elk <br />River. He further requested to advertise for a Finance Director. <br /> <br />COUNCIL MEMBER HOLMGREN MOVED TO AUTHORIZE THE CITY ADMINISTRATOR TO <br />ADVERTISE FOR THE POSITION OF FINANCE DIRECTOR. COUNCIL MEMBER SCHEEL <br />SECONDED THE MOTION. THE MOTION CARRIED 5-0. <br /> <br />COUNCIL MEMBER HOLMGREN MOVED THAT COUNCIL MEMBER DIETZ AND MAYOR <br />DUITSMAN ASSIST IN THE SCREENING PROCESS FOR THE FINANCE DIRECTOR WITH <br />THREE OR FOUR APPLICANTS BEING SELECTED TO BE INTERVIEWED BY THE COUNCIL. <br />COUNCIL MEMBER FARBER SECONDED THE MOTION. MOTION CARRIED 5-0. <br /> <br />A t this time the City Council reviewed the pay resolution. This information was <br />included in the budget memo. Council Member Dietz requested that a date of <br />July 1 be included on Item 8 of Exhibit 1 of the pay resolution. <br /> <br />Council Member Farber indicated that he felt the City Council should review the <br />salaries of department heads. He indicated that there are some department <br />heads that should receive more than a 3% increase in salary. Mayor Duitsman <br />indicated that it would be best to wait until the Comparable Worth report is <br />completed before a decision is made on certain department heads receiving <br />greater than 3% increase. He further indicated that he would be supportive of <br />making any increase greater than 3% retroactive to January 1, 1995 for <br />department heads. <br /> <br />COUNCIL MEMBER HOLMGREN MOVED TO ADOPT RESOLUTION 94-126, A <br />RESOLUTION ADOPTING THE 1995 PAY PLAN FOR NON-ORGANIZED EMPLOYEES WITH <br />THE CONTINGENCY THAT DEPARTMENT HEAD SALARIES BE FURTHER REVIEWED <br />FOLLOWING THE COMP WORTH STUDY, AND ANY ADDITIONAL CHANGES FOR <br />DEPARTMENT HEAD SALARIES BE RETROACTIVE TO JANUARY 1, 1995. COUNCIL <br />MEMBER FARBER SECONDED THE MOTION. THE MOTION CARRIED 5-0. <br /> <br />COUNCIL MEMBER HOLMGREN MOVED TO ADOPT FOR ALL EMPLOYEES THE <br />VACATION SCHEDULE THAT WAS ACCEPTED BY THE 1995-1996 POLICE UNION <br />CONTRACT. COUNCIL MEMBER FARBER SECONDED THE MOTION. MOTION CARRIED <br />5-0. <br /> <br />COUNCIL MEMBER DIETZ MOVED TO DENY THE REQUEST OF THE ECONOMIC <br />DEVELOPMENT COORDINATOR TO ADJUST HIS VACATION SCHEDULE AS IT WOULD <br />SET A PRECEDENT FOR OTHER CITY EMPLOYEES. COUNCIL MEMBER FARBER <br />SECONDED THE MOTION. THE MOTION CARRIED 4-1, COUNCIL MEMBER HOLMGREN <br />OPPOSED. <br /> <br />Following discussion of Out of Pay Classification, it was the consensus that Out of <br />Pay Classification requests be treated on a case by case basis. <br />
