Consider a Conditional Use Permit request by Solid Rock Church, PH, Case No. CU
94-15

Planning Assistant Gary Schmitz indicated that Solid Rock Church is requesting a
conditional use permit to operate a school accommodating grades K-12 from
the existing church facility. Gary Schmitz reviewed the history of the Solid Rock
Church which was formerly known as the Assembly of God Church. He indicated
that there have been numerous requests by the Church throughout the past ten
years on a wide variety of topics. These requests involved neighborhood
concerns regarding increased traffic in the area. Gary Schmitz explained that
due to the neighborhood concerns regarding traffic, a traffic study was
conducted by Benshoof and Associates concerning the addition of the proposed
school to the church facility. The traffic study concluded that the school
operation will generate very little traffic during peak traffic periods and that the
busing service will bus approximately 60% of the students. He indicated that the
study ultimately conCluded that the addition of the proposed school to the
existing church should not significantly impact traffic on the residential streets.

e

Vice Mayor Farber opened the public hearing.
