Consider Purchase of Self Contained Breathing Apparatus for Fire <br />Department <br /> <br />The City Administrator informed the Council that the Fire Chief would <br />be proceeding with obtaining quotes for the replacement of twelve <br />self-contained breathing apparatuses. These items were budgeted in the <br />1994 capital outlay budget. <br /> <br />COUNCILMEMBER FARBER MOVED TO AUTHORIZE THE FIRE CHIEF TO OBTAIN QUOTES <br />FOR TWELVE SELF-CONTAINED BREATHING APPARATUSES. COUNCILMEMBER DIETZ <br />SECONDED THE MOTION. THE MOTION CARRIED 4-0. <br /> <br />6.4. Purchase of 1994 Police Vehicles <br /> <br />The City Administrator indicated that the police Chief is requesting <br />authorization to purchase three 1994 police squad cars. The Chief <br />received three quotes for the vehicles with the State Cooperative <br />purchasing bid being $48.10 lower than the bid from Elk River Ford. It <br />has been past practice to purchase locally if possible. In his memo, <br />the police Chief requested the Council to purchase three 1994 Crown <br />Victorias from Elk River Ford at $13,826.10 per vehicle. <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />COUNCILMEMBER FARBER MOVED TO AUTHORIZE THE PURCHASE OF THREE 1994 FORD <br />CROWN VICTORIA SQUAD CARD FROM ELK RIVER FORD AT $13,826.10 PER <br />VEHICLE. COUNCILMEMBER HOLMGREN SECONDED THE MOTION. THE MOTION <br />CARRIED 4-0. <br /> <br />7. <br /> <br />Other Business <br /> <br />7.2. stop Sign at Baldwin Ave. and 190th Ave <br /> <br />The City Administrator indicated that the police Chief is <br />requesting Council authorization to install a stop sign at the <br />intersection of Baldwin Avenue and 190th Avenue NW. <br /> <br />COUNCILMEMBER HOLMGREN MOVED TO APPROVE THE INSTALLATION OF A STOP <br />SIGN AT THE INTERSECTION BALDWIN AVE AND 190TH AVENUE. <br />COUNCILMEMBER FARBER SECONDED THE MOTION. THE MOTION CARRIED 4-0. <br /> <br />7.1. City Flag Contest <br /> <br />The Council cast their votes for the winner of the "City Flag <br />Contest." <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />The winner of the contest was Rick Johnson with Melanie Rieschl in <br />second place. Mr. Johnson will be awarded a $100 gift certificate <br />for any chamber-member business and he will receive a City Flag <br />when produced. <br />
