Tom Dillon indicated that the last package approved by the City Council <br />on April 3, 1995, was presented to the fire department for a vote and was turned <br />down with a 27-1 vote to remain with a defined benefit plan. Mayor Duitsman <br />indicated that a Task Force meeting has been scheduled for August 9. <br /> <br />The City Council also indicated its frustration at the length of time it has taken to <br />settle this issue. <br /> <br />COUNCILMEMBER HOLMGREN MOVED TO APPROVE SCHEDULES 1, 2 AND 3 FOR <br />1996, AND. TO APPROVE THE MINIMUM REQUIRED CONTRIBUTION IN 1996. <br />COUNCILMEMBER DIETZ SECONDED THE MOTION. THE MOTION CARRIED 5-0. <br /> <br />5.11. Reconsider Trainina Proposal from Trainina Networks, Inc. <br /> <br />Mayor Duitsman indicated that he has concluded that he cannot support the <br />expenditure of funds for the training proposal submitted by Training Networks, Inc. <br />He indicated he supports the concept of the training for city staff, however <br />cannot support the expenditure of funds. <br /> <br />Council member Farber indicated he is in favor of the training and stated that it <br />would enhance the city. <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />Councilmember Holmgren questioned whether the Mayor is willing to look at <br />spending a portion of the funds for a portion of the training. Mayor Duitsman <br />indicated that he would not be opposed to considering another proposal at a <br />reduced cost. <br /> <br />6. <br /> <br />Open Mike <br /> <br />David Hauan indicated that he had recently received approval from the Council <br />regarding a private road agreement on July 17, 1995. He stated that part of the <br />motion required him to hard surface his property. He indicated that staff had <br />informed him that the hard surface meant bituminous. Mr. Hauan requested the <br />Council to clarify this as he was not under the impression the approval meant <br />bituminous. It was the consensus of the Council that it was not intended for Mr. <br />Hauan to be required to have a bituminous surface, rather a Class 5 material <br />would be adequate. <br /> <br />COUNCILMEMBER SCHEEL MOVED TO ALLOW CLASS 5 AS THE HARD SURFACE FOR <br />MR. HAUAN. COUNCILMEMBER FARBER SECONDED THE MOTION. THE MOTION <br />CARRIED 4-0-1.
