He indicated that a second new siren will be <br />placed on a new pole in the location south and west of the present fairgrounds <br />location on Orono Road. He further stated that the old siren located near the <br />fairgrounds will be traded as part of the new siren purchase project. <br /> <br />Councilmember Scheel stated that there seems to be a concentration of the <br />sirens in the urban area. She indicated that there is a greater need for siren <br />coverage for people on the golf course or who are working in the fields. <br /> <br />Councilmember Farber indicated his concern regarding having siren coverage <br />near Meadowvale School and the golf course. <br /> <br />COUNCILMEMBER HOLMGREN MOVED TO PURCHASE TWO NEW SIRENS, EXCLUDING <br />THE PROPOSED TRADE-IN Of THE SIREN LOCATED NEAR THE fAIRGROUNDS ON <br />ORONO ROAD, AND THAT THE TWO NEW SIREN COVERAGE AREAS BE NEAR 221 ST <br />AVENUE AND JOHNSON STREET AND NEAR THE GOLF COURSE. COUNCILMEMBER <br />SCHEEL SECONDED THE MOTION. THE MOTION CARRIED 5-0. <br /> <br />504. <br /> <br />Custom Motors Site Update <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />Economic Development Coordinator Bill Rubin stated that the issue before the <br />Council is to discuss financing alternatives related to the successful relocation of <br />Custom Motors from its current site at 13913 Highway 10 to another site within the <br />community. Bill Rubin indicated that the Council must decide how much and <br />what types of assistance the City should offer to Custom Motors. Bill Rubin <br />explained that the City normally offers supplemental . financing to businesses <br />seeking assistance. He indicated that he felt this type of financing would be <br />appropriate for Custom Motors. <br /> <br />The Attorney for Custom Motors explained that there are no financing options <br />available to Custom Motors due to the environmental concerns on the property. <br /> <br />Mayor Duitsman suggested that the City begin Phase II of the environmental <br />clean up study for the Custom Motors site. He further suggested that the City <br />take the funds for the study from the waste abatement fund. <br /> <br />Councilmember Farber indicated his frustration with the situation because the <br />city cannot financially help Custom Motors. He indicated that the situation with <br />Custom Motors is not the same as other situations becausel the City has rezoned <br />the site and is requesting Custom Motors to move. <br /> <br />COUNCILMEMBER HOLMGREN MOVED TO PROCEED WITH OBTAINING A WORK <br />PLAN AND COST ESTIMATE FOR A PHASE" STUDY FOR AN ENVIRONMENTAL CLEAN <br />UP OF THE CUSTOM MOTORS SITE. COUNCILMEMBER FARBER SECONDED THE <br />MOTION. THE MOTION CARRIED 5-0. <br /> <br />5.5. <br /> <br />Update on Elk Hills Drive and Hiahwav 169 Intersection Desian Options <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />City Engineer Terry Maurer reviewed his 3/29/95 memo that outlined the pros and <br />cons of the compromise intersection altemative provided by Mr. Gary Santwire <br />for the Elk Hills Drive intersection.
