Engage businesses along the Northstar Corridor that will potentially <br />benefit from the commuter rail project. * <br />*This strategy and subsequent tactics support the Public Involvement Goal: Build a <br />contingent of local third-party advocates-primarily businesses-who support the <br />NCDA and commuter rail project. <br /> <br />· PowerPoint Presentation-Update and enhance NCDA's PowerPoint document. <br />./ Tailor presentation for audiences whenever applicable. <br />./ Add testimonials from notable third-party advocates whenever possible, such as <br />Gov. Ventura's comments on WCCO-AM and comments from U.S. Rep. James <br />Oberstar during his July tour of the commuter rail line. <br />· Executive Level Business Meetings-Meet face-to-face with a select group of <br />key business executives along the corridor. <br />./ Identify person or entity on the NCDA who is best connected with businesses. <br />./ Identify local business leaders who are proponents of the Northstar Corridor <br />commuter rail project, as well as those who have reservations about the project. <br />./ Consultant Jill Brown will meet face-to-face with the selected executives to <br />discuss the commuter rail project and solicit feedback. <br />./ Forward business executives' comments to Project Management team and other . <br />individuals as appropriate. <br />· Business Roundtable-Meet face-to-face with a large, select group of business <br />leaders, addressing concerns/issues identified during executive level business <br />meetings. <br />./ Extend invitations via Chamber and Rotary groups, or possibly via Medtronic <br />CEO William George. <br />./ Host one luncheon meeting with this group to identify benefits and address <br />concerns related to commuting workers. <br />./ Identify key stakeholders who are willing to be spokespeople. <br />./ Solicit quotes and profiles that can be used in NCDA communications. <br />./ Develop corporate contact list and tap this group for informal surveys and <br />feedback, ideally via email. <br /> <br />3. Expand existing support from elected officials and transportation <br />planners for the Northstar Corridor commuter rail line. * <br />*This strategy and subsequent tactics support the Public Involvement Goal: Increase <br />support of government officials and transportation planners. <br /> <br />· Briefings-Conduct high-level, face-to-face briefings with elected officials, <br />policymakers and key legislative leaders. <br />./ Target the governor, MnDOT, Metropolitan Council, etc. <br />./ Create ongoing dialog with appropriate local officials and policymakers <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />page 11 of 15 <br />
