Elk River Public Library Board Page 3 <br /> August 1,2017 <br /> members feel all the programs offered at the Library are important; <br /> particularly to young kids who might not be able to afford alternative <br /> programs such as those offered through Continuing Ed. <br /> 5.2 Old Business <br /> 5.2.a Review Bylaw Changes <br /> All proposed changes are good and there are no additional changes. The <br /> bylaws will be approved by motion at the next meeting. <br /> 5.3 Library Grounds Report <br /> • The Board asked if at the next meeting Tim Sevcik could clarify the <br /> difference between 'seal coat' and 'fog seal'. <br /> • Board members would like Tim Sevcik to attend the October meeting to <br /> show ideas for the permanent patio furniture. <br /> 5.4 Building Maintenance Report <br /> There were no questions or comments about the report. <br /> 5.5 Library Zones Report <br /> Chair Eberley asked if the Board felt the zones and the report was still effective. <br /> After discussion, the majority of the Board feels it is still an effective tool to use <br /> to stay aware of grounds and building needs. <br /> There were no issues found in the zones other than items presented in the staff <br /> reports under items 5.3 and 5.4. <br /> 5.6 City Council Report <br /> Councilman Ovall discussed his update under 5.1.b. He had no further updates <br /> for the Board. <br /> 5.7 Patron Services Supervisors Report <br /> • Brandi presented the GRRL 2016 Annual Report. <br /> • GRRL is expanding their early literacy initiative to all branches. <br /> • Fall Fairytales will provide STEM-based story times. For example,when <br /> reading The Three Little Pigs there will be a discussion about how the houses <br /> were built and why one house was able to structurally withstand the huffing <br /> and puffing and what made the other houses fall down. <br /> • In December GRRL will kick off their Hour of Code programming to <br /> encourage kids to learn coding for apps and software. <br /> P / MEREI 1Y <br /> NATURE <br />
