APPENDIX ENERGY CITY COMMISSION <br /> INTERVIEWS <br /> I think pretty well. Long before I knew there was a Commission, I knew it was Energy City. There <br /> is a sign as you drive into town and other signs throughout town. It would be nice for more <br /> people to have an understanding for what it truly means,but that doesn't mean they do not know <br /> that Elk River is Energy City. <br /> Allison: That sort of leads into my next question, regarding the perception of Elk River, do <br /> you think that the residents see it as Energy City,?What do you think the perception is? <br /> I think so, I haven't lived in Elk River my whole life, just the last 11.5 years. You see the wind <br /> turbine and many people know the landfill. Also, a lot of people know about the trash recycling <br /> and garbage burning power plant. I do believe that Elk River is perceived as Energy City. <br /> Allison: We talked about this too,but do you see it as the Energy City Commission's role to <br /> promote Energy City? <br /> What I have come to learn is that the City and Commission do not have a huge budget. It really <br /> just tries to accomplish its goals by influencing other City departments. We are really trying to <br /> educate other departments to be mindful of sustainability and how to execute their <br /> responsibilities.The Commission does not have the resources to carry out that task. <br /> Allison: Okay,and our last question,what do you envision for the future of Energy City and <br /> its progression? <br /> Three years ago it felt that there were demonstrations happening, and we were doing more.Yet, <br /> it seems like the last few years, we are doing less. One goal I have is I would really like to see a <br /> significant solar power demonstration project.
