RECOMMENDATIONS <br /> the roles between the City of Elk River and the Energy City Commission,especially for new City of <br /> Elk River staff members and Energy City Commission members, and help to regain Energy City's <br /> focus. This would also be an opportunity to reinforce that the City of Elk River and the City <br /> Council are in charge of Energy City and promoting it to the City of Elk River residents, while the <br /> Energy City Commission advises them and emphasizes the importance for energy efficiency and <br /> sustainability. In this sense, the City of Elk River and Energy City Commission should re-confirm <br /> the 10-year Action Plan every year. They should also solidify and review long-term and short- <br /> term strategies and tactics to achieve its goals and objectives. <br /> RECOMMENDATION THREE <br /> Third, in terms of achieving the 10-year Action Plan's Goal One and promoting the City of <br /> Elk River as Energy City, we had mixed findings between our qualitative and quantitative <br /> research phases. We found that 35 percent of our in-depth interview respondents were familiar <br /> with Energy City, while 88 percent of our survey respondents were familiar with Energy City <br /> (quantitative findings higher than our qualitative findings due to bias). In this sense,our team did <br /> find that the City of Elk River holds a potential market for Energy City, since a majority of the City <br /> of Elk River residents are supportive of energy efficiency and sustainability and want the City of <br /> Elk River to be a state,national, and international leader in energy efficiency and sustainability. <br /> As such, our team proposes that the City of Elk River, as advised by the Energy City <br /> Commission, should increase Energy City's promotional efforts through community engagement <br /> and local organizations or clubs, such as the YMCA, and in both the Elk River Star News and on <br /> social media. These media sources are primarily where City of Elk River residents receive their <br /> local news.
