RECOMMENDATIONS <br /> Recommendations <br /> Our team has four exploratory recommendations for the City of Elk River and the Energy <br /> City Commission that correspond with our project's objectives; namely: helping to establish <br /> Energy City's brand identity and promote Energy City to the City of Elk River residents, <br /> increasing its brand awareness. However,we believe that the City of Elk River and the Energy City <br /> Commission need to restructure the Energy City Commission and regain Energy City's focus, if <br /> they would like Energy City to have an established brand identity and for the City of Elk River <br /> residents to be aware of Energy City and its importance. <br /> RECOMMENDATION ONE <br /> First, given that Energy City Commission membership is only open to people in the <br /> energy industry, we propose that the City of Elk River and the Energy City Commission explore <br /> amending its ordinance and allow 2-4 seats for City of Elk River residents that have an interest <br /> and passion for Energy City, energy efficiency, and sustainability. Although we believe that a <br /> majority of the Energy City Commission should be energy-related experts,we support public and <br /> local membership as a means to increase enthusiasm for Energy City and help to regain its focus. <br /> In this sense, Energy City Commission members could even be given specific roles, such as <br /> helping the City of Elk River staff with marketing, forming partnerships, or co-branding, <br /> especially since this might increase their sense of personal dedication and responsibility. <br /> RECOMMENDATION TWO <br /> Second, we propose that the City of Elk River staff and Energy City Commission have a <br /> joint"first meeting" of the year.
