QUALITATIVE RESEARCH <br /> receives her local news strictly through the Parks and Recreation department and that "if a <br /> [newsletter or pamphlet] says"Parks and Rec"on it, I'll read it!" <br /> QUALITATIVE RESEARCH TAKEAWAYS <br /> Throughout our team's in-depth interviews with the Energy City Commission and the City <br /> of Elk River residents, we had several key takeaways. First, after talking with the Energy City <br /> Commission, we discovered that nearly all of the Energy City Commission members work in the <br /> energy industry, but some lack the personal passion or enthusiasm for Energy City. Additionally, <br /> despite the 10-year Action Plan, we uncovered that some of the Energy City Commission <br /> members are still uncertain about Energy City's focus, the Energy City Commission's role, <br /> especially in relationship to the City of Elk River and the City Council, and their personal Energy <br /> City Commission roles. <br /> Second, after talking with the City of Elk River residents, we found that the majority of <br /> residents enjoyed the City of Elk River and its "small town feel." However, many of the City of Elk <br /> River residents are either not informed, feel overwhelmed by city initiatives and activities, or do <br /> not prioritize them. This is evident considering only 35 percent of Elk River residents were <br /> familiar with Energy City and even less knew anything about it. In relation, majority of our <br /> respondents were interested in Energy City, especially since they value energy efficiency and <br /> sustainability.
