QUALITATIVE RESEARCH <br /> Powered by Nature and had seen the logo on documents,mailings,newsletters,flyers, utility bills, <br /> and garbage cans. Nonetheless, of these respondents, several of them were confused by Powered <br /> by Nature and its meaning, claiming that"everything comes from the sun." One respondent even <br /> admitted that the City of Elk River has "so many catchphrases" that it is difficult to understand <br /> which are the most important. <br /> CITY OF ELK RIVER RESIDENTS: PROMOTION AND COMMUNICATION <br /> Following the questions specifically about the City of Elk River and Energy City, our team <br /> asked the City of Elk River residents about their local news consumption habits. In response, <br /> about half of the City of Elk River respondents felt that the City of Elk River was doing a good job <br /> communicating to its inhabitants. One respondent acknowledged that she thought the City of Elk <br /> River does a good job of communicating with its residents, saying that she enjoys keeping up-to- <br /> date with the local news and seeing what is out there [for events and activities.] Yet, another <br /> respondent alluded that it is difficult to follow local news, given that "there are so many other <br /> things occupying our minds." <br /> In relation, nearly all of the City of Elk River residents said that they primarily get their <br /> local news through "word of mouth." Additionally, almost half of our respondents said that they <br /> receive their local news from print sources, namely the Elk River Star News and rely less on the <br /> City of Elk River newsletters and pamphlets. At the same time, many respondents preferred <br /> online sources and social media. They shared, however, that the City of Elk River has multiple <br /> Facebook pages, which can get confusing.
