It is also home to over 20 demonstration sites for efficient and <br /> renewable energy products, services, and technologies, notably Great River Energy, the Elk River <br /> Landfill, the Elk River Wind Energy Project (Vestas V47), and the Haubenchild Farms (Energy <br /> City, 2016). <br /> THE ENERGY CITY COMMISSION <br /> The Energy City Commission advises the City of Elk River on Energy City's focus and on <br /> promotional efforts to the City of Elk River residents. The Energy City Commission consists of up <br /> to eleven members, which are appointed by the Elk River City Council. As laid out by the Energy <br /> City Commission's ordinance (Elk River City Code, Chapter 2,Article V), members shall consist of <br /> one representative from the following areas: <br /> 1. City of Elk River, City Council/Economic Development Authority <br /> 2. City of Elk River Municipal Utilities <br /> 3. City of Elk River Chamber of Commerce <br /> 4. City of Elk River Landfill. <br /> Moreover,the other members must be working in "energy-related businesses" or the City <br /> of Elk River school district.
