ELK RIVER POLICE DEPARTMENT
CRIME MENTION & OUTREACH PROGRAMS
Ongoing Programs:
64A-7
ccs(
Crime Free Multi -Housing Program (CFMH)
We conduct monthly meetings at police department for apartment owners and
managers. Disseminate police reports relevant to their properties. Provide
training and updates on crime trends. The number of members fluctuates
throughout the year as management companies' change. We average about 20
members and are always seeking new members.
Neighborhood Watch Program
Program establishes neighborhood watch groups within residential areas of the
city. An initial presentation is given to residents of that development, covering
the concept of the program and providing security tips. Block Captains are
selected and become a liaison for the block watch group with the police
department. Newsletters are sent twice a year along with crime alerts to the
block captains who then distribute them to the other members.
SkimStop Program
A program designed to work in conjunction with local gas stations to ensure that
credit card "skimmers" are not being placed in their gas pumps by criminals. The
program was rolled out in April of 2016 and now has all the stations in Elk River
taking part in the program. Impromptu Inspections are done to ensure
compliance. Stations are provided the forms and security seals needed for the
program and receive an annual sticker informing the public that they participate
in the program.
