• Parks&Recreation Commission Minutes Page 3 <br /> March 9,2017 <br /> Chair Anderson asked that a notice be mailed to the Trott Brook neighborhood <br /> residents about the next meeting when the outdoor rinks are discussed. <br /> 7.2 Deer Hunting Update <br /> Chair Anderson shared the deer hunt update. <br /> Commissioner Soltvedt asked what communication steps were taken to get the word <br /> out about the hunt. <br /> Chair Anderson shared that it was posted on social media and signs were placed at <br /> each park. <br /> Commissioner Soltvedt recommends direct contact of residents that surround the <br /> parks. This would get residents aware of what is going on. <br /> 8. Parks and Recreation Director Update <br /> Mr. Hecker presented his staff report. Introducing new commissioner Andy <br /> Soltvedt,who then shared his background. <br /> • Mr. Hecker asked to discuss the option of plowing Woodland Trails Regional Park <br /> trails that are used for skiing as there has been a jump in calls requesting it this year. <br /> Commission decided that it is not a good idea and that it has been discussed many <br /> times in the past. <br /> Mr. Hecker asked the commission if they would be available to tour other athletic <br /> fields such as Sand Creek Fields,Rice Creek Fields,or Shoreview, taking an <br /> afternoon to conduct the tour. <br /> April 26th was suggested. <br /> Mr. Hecker shared that the Orono Master Plan will be updated and that HKGi has <br /> been hired to put it together. The skate park is being moved due to the trail along <br /> Highway 10 going in and storm water requirements will affect the parking lots. <br /> Chair Anderson asked if commission can be involved in the initial mockup of the <br /> park master plan before the consultant comes in. <br /> Commissioner Niziolek thanked the Friends of the Mississippi River for helping with <br /> the buckthorn removal at the William H.
