<br />November 19, 2012 -Part I, page 20 - <br />As a result of these private investments, the City was able to <br />expand the King Avenue parking lot and construct the long- <br />awaited River’s Edge Commons Park. <br /> <br />In 2010, the City purchased the parking lot behind the Sunshine <br />Depot block. This purchase retained approximately 70 parking <br />spaces in public ownership. <br /> <br />In 2012, the Elk River Lutheran Church began redevelopment of <br />the former 1st National Bank building into their new worship <br />center. Included in the improvements was an easement to <br />provide a trail along the river, a landscaped refuge center near <br />Main Street, and a community room overlooking the river. <br /> <br />In 2012, the HRA, due to poor building conditions and rising <br />maintenance costs, removed the Main Street Mall at 720 and 716 <br />Main Street. In their place, a 28 stall parking lot was added. <br /> <br />As part of its exploration and understanding of the study area, the <br />Task Force considered the following conditions and issues: <br /> Previous Relevant Studies <br /> Natural, Cultural and Recreational Amenities <br /> Market Conditions <br /> Transportation and Infrastructure <br /> Historic Context <br />
