<br />Elk River City Council Minutes <br />March 8. 1999 <br /> <br />Page 4 <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />Council member Thompson stated that he would be interested in participating on <br />the interview team, as he did during last fall's process. <br /> <br />Council indicated that there is no need for the selected top candidate to be <br />interviewed by the City Council, but that the top candidates may come before <br />the council for interviewing if a selection cannot be made by the interview team. <br /> <br />7.2. Update on Liauor Store Manaaer Candidates and Interviews <br /> <br />City Administrator Pat Klaers indicated that he and Finance Director Lori Johnson, <br />along with Councilmembers Farber and Dietz, will be conducting nine interviews <br />on March 17 and 18. Pat stated that all nine applicants are very highly qualified, <br />and it may take the committee a second round of interviews to select a top <br />candidate. <br /> <br />Council indicated approval to proceed with the selection of the top candidate <br />without council direction, and again welcomed bringing top candidates to the <br />council if the committee cannot make a selection. <br /> <br />7.3. <br /> <br />Anoka-Hennepin Technical Colleae Expansion and/or Relocation Plans <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />Mayor Klinzing indicated that the Anoka-Hennepin Technical College in the city <br />of Anoka is considering options for its expansion and/or relocation. She stated <br />that the two sites being considered are Coon Rapids and Ramsey, and that it is in <br />the best interest of the city of Elk River for this expansion to be as close to Elk River <br />as possible. Mayor Klinzing stated that she will attend a meeting on March 11 to <br />provide input to the MNSCU Board on Elk River's position regarding <br />expansion/relocation preference. Mayor Klinzing will provide an update to the <br />council at the March 15 City Council meeting. <br /> <br />7.4. <br /> <br />Call Special City Council Meetina for March 29 to Meet with Plannina Commission <br />for Plannina Department Annual Report <br /> <br />COUNCILMEMBER MOTIN MOVED TO CALL A SPECIAL CITY COUNCIL MEETING FOR <br />MARCH 29, 1999, TO MEET WITH THE PLANNING COMMISSION FOR ITS ANNUAL <br />JOINT MEETING AND FOR THE PRESENTATION OF THE PLANNING DEPARTMENT <br />ANNUAL REPORT AS TIME ALLOWS. COUNCILMEMBER THOMPSON SECONDED THE <br />MOTION. THE MOTION CARRIED 4-0. <br /> <br />7.5. Cancel 3/22 Special Meetina with HRA and Call Special Meetina with HRA for <br />4112, 5-6 p.m. <br /> <br />COUNCILMEMBER THOMPSON MOVED TO CANCEL THE MARCH 22, 1999, SPECIAL <br />MEETING WITH THE HRA AND TO CALL A SPECIAL MEETING FOR APRIL 12, 1999,5-6 <br />P.M. TO DISCUSS THE DOWNTOWN FOCUS STUDY AND ACTION PLAN. <br />COUNCILMEMBER DIETZ SECONDED THE MOTION. THE MOTION CARRIED 4-0. <br /> <br />8.
