conducted as early as weather permits;but no later than May 15 of each year. The <br /> second treatment shall be conducted between July 1 and 15 and the third treatment <br /> conducted between September 15 and 30 of each year. <br /> c. Aeration—Turf areas shall be aerated one time each year between September 1 and <br /> October 15. Aeration shall be conducted to a minimum depth of 1.5 inches and shall be <br /> conducted in two directions where feasible. <br /> d. Herbicide Applications—One application of pre-emergent herbicide for crab grass <br /> control shall be conducted when ground temperatures reach 55 degrees but prior to <br /> ground temperatures reaching 60 degrees. Two applications of broadleaf herbicide shall <br /> be made with the first application conducted prior to June 1 and the second prior to <br /> August 30 of each year <br /> i. Untimely Rainfall—Weed control efforts that are compromised due to untimely <br /> rainfall shall be resprayed for broadleaf control at no additional cost to the city. <br /> ii. Notification of Chemical Applications—The contractor shall inform the city of <br /> chemical applications in a method to meet or exceed all state and local <br /> requirements. <br /> iii. Chemical Applicators—All chemical applicators will be licensed by the State of <br /> Minnesota;the contractor shall provide a copy of the applicators license upon <br /> request by the city. <br /> iv. Chemicals—Only EPA approved chemical products shall be used. <br /> C. Fall Clean-up—To be completed no later than November 1 of each year <br /> a. Raking or blowing leaves and debris from around buildings,obstacles,and sidewalk <br /> areas; <br /> b. Raking or blowing leaves and debris from rock beds and shrub beds; <br /> c. Power sweep or vacuuming turf areas to remove leaves and debris; <br /> d. Removal of leaves from storm sewer and curb line;and <br /> e. Removal of all collected debris from property for proper disposal. <br /> D. Inspection of the Grounds—The contractor shall inspect the grounds weekly at the time of the <br /> mowing. <br /> a. Spring inspection shall be performed detailing winter damage and a recommended <br /> course of repair presented to the city for approval at a specified rate. <br /> b. Normal weekly site inspections shall be conducted and a punch list of items will be <br /> submitted to the city with appropriate course of repair for approval at a specified rate. <br /> E. Irrigation Damage—The contractor shall be responsible for replacing irrigation heads and <br /> equipment damaged as a result of turf maintenance activities at no cost to the city. It is the <br /> contractors responsibility to ensure all irrigation heads are below surface prior to mowing the <br /> turf areas to prevent damage to heads. Replacement equipment shall be of the same <br /> manufacturer and type as the equipment damaged. <br /> 172 <br />
