<br />Elk River City Council Minutes <br />February 8, 1999 <br /> <br />Page 4 <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />Council member Motin questioned if there is a possibility that the Club may need <br />further assistance before the completion date of the facility, and if this requested <br />$65,000 would be adequate without bringing future requests to the council. <br /> <br />John Fitzgerald indicated that there may be other requests that arise, but that he <br />was not prepared to itemize them at this time. <br /> <br />Mayor Klinzing encouraged Mr. Fitzgerald to come back to the council after <br />gathering more information on further funding needs. <br /> <br />COUNCILMEMBER FARBER MOVED TO APPROVE THE FUNDING OF $65,000 FROM THE <br />LANDFILL ABATEMENT FUND FOR THE BOYS AND GIRLS CLUB OF ELK RIVER. <br />COUNCILMEMBER DIETZ SECONDED THE MOTION. THE MOTION CARRIED 4-0. <br /> <br />6.4. Consider Special City Council Meetinqs <br /> <br />City Administrator Pat Klaers informed the council that in addition to the requests <br />for special meetings at the 2/8/99 meeting, there will be future requests for special <br />joint meetings with the Planning Commission, Utilities Commission, Park and <br />Recreation Commission, and for Capital Improvement discussions. <br /> <br />Councilmember Farber indicated a conflict with the March 1 meeting, and stated <br />that he would not be in attendance. <br /> <br />Councilmember Dietz indicated a possible conflict with the February 23 meeting. <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />Council member Motin indicated that he understands the intent behind scheduling <br />special meetings for annual reports, but in general, he would prefer to hold longer <br />regular meetings and fewer special meetings. <br /> <br />COUNCILMEMBER DIETZ MOVED TO APPROVE THE SPECIAL CITY COUNCIL MEETINGS <br />AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />c. FEBRUARY 23 (TUESDAY) MEETING WITH COUNTY BOARD (6:00 p.m., City Hall) <br />b. MARCH 1 - PRESENTATION OF ANNUAL REPORTS (6:00 p.m., City Hall) <br /> <br />c. APRIL 5 - PRESENTATION OF ANNUAL REPORTS (6:00 p.m., City Hall) <br /> <br />d. APRIL 29 (THURSDAY) - BOARD OF REVIEW (6:00 p.m., County Gov't. Center) <br />COUNCILMEMBER FARBER SECONDED THE MOTION. THE MOTION CARRIED 4-0. <br /> <br />6.5. <br /> <br />a. <br /> <br />Consider Mayoral Appointment to Housinq and Redevelopment Authority <br /> <br />COUNCILMEMBER MOTIN MOVED TO ACCEPT LARRY FARBER'S RESIGNATION FROM <br />THE HOUSING AND REDEVELOPMENT AUTHORITY. COUNCILMEMBER DIETZ SECONDED <br />THE MOTION. THE MOTION CARRIED 4-0. <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />COUNCILMEMBER DIETZ MOVED TO APPOINT DARYL THOMPSON TO THE HOUSING <br />AND REDEVELOPMENT AUTHORITY TO REPLACE LARRY FARBER WITH HIS TERM <br />EXPIRING ON 12/31/99. COUNCILMEMBER FARBER SECONDED THE MOTION. THE <br />MOTION CARRIED 4-0. <br />
