As you aware, the City is planning to reconstruct 5th Street, <br />Tipton Avenue, and Upland Avenue. As we discussed the proposed street improvement <br />relative to your watermain system, you requested that the following watermain <br />improvements be added to the project: <br /> <br />· On Rush Avenue from 5th Street to Trunk Highway 10 and under Trunk Highway 10, <br />you have requested an 8-inch watermain be installed, connecting to the existing <br />watermain on the north side of Trunk Highway 10. <br />· On 5th Street from Rush Avenue to the west, you have requested a 12-inch watermain be <br />installed, connecting to the existing lO-inch HDPE pipe in place at the end of 5th Street. <br />· You have requested a bid alternate be included in the project for a 12-inch watermain <br />under Trunk Highway 10 at the east end of the 5th Street project. <br />· You requested that all old-style hydrants be replaced with new Waterous hydrants. <br />· The Elk River Municipal Utilities will have your personnel survey the properties along <br />the 2005 Pavement Rehabilitation Project to determine if any of the existing water <br />services are of a lead material. Based on the results of that survey, direction will be given <br />to us relative to any water services to be replaced. <br />· We will pull together all pertinent information from the 2003 project relative to <br />temporary water services in areas of watermain replacement and for connection of <br />copper service pipe to differing materials for your review, prior to final preparation of <br />project plans and specifications. <br />· As project plans are prepared, we will review the 90 percent completed plans and <br />specifications with you and your staff and will present a probable estimate of cost. <br /> <br />2550 University Avenue West.
