Park and Rec Update Steve/Karen <br />September 29th last date of farmers market. Karen spoke to people at the Lutheran Church about having farmers <br />market vendors park their vehicles by Church. The Church people authorized the vendors to park there and that <br />has worked better to relieve parking in the King ave lot. <br />Application for next year will specify parking outside of King ave lot. <br />Downtown Park update: delays due to weather and washout issues. Discovered some drainage issues. Project <br />won't be done before mid November. Three changes if approved by counsel — putting wifi in the Park (EDA <br />Grant), 220 power, and increasing width of staircase to 8ft. <br />More walking accidents due to Pokeman. <br />Ranking of downtown priorities: Benches and Bike Racks, Kiosk listing downtown businesses (Map)- by <br />farmers market, (Fred said that MnCor builds benches made from recycled milk cartons $650 each can be <br />monogramed, extremely heavy so that couldn't be easily carried off). <br />Downtown Decorative Lights: majority are still working. <br />Parking Courtesy Letter to Businesses: after formal request to city to suspend parking permits in the King ave <br />lot for 2017 we will send a letter to all downtown businesses to leave street parking available for customers <br />Halloween Trick/Treat Friday October 28: hay bales and pumpkin scenes. Photo prop area. Check Logo. Flyers <br />up at spooktacular. Wendy will make door signs/fliers and get to Steve. <br />Christmas Tree Lighting Sat November 26 (Small Business Saturday). Fred needs to know the date we need tree <br />delivered. Make sure lights turn on correctly with new electrical in park this year. Hot Cocoa. <br />Christmas/Santa Downtown December 10: Santa is booked. Park and Rec will arrange petting zoo. All <br />downtown businesses can contribute to giveaway bag for children that Santa's helpers pass out. November <br />meeting bring 350 items; Candy, novelty items. Will connect with Gifts anonymous about collecting toys again. <br />Tanna will contact Mary Murphy to confirm their participation. <br />New Business <br />Wine Women & Shopping Nov 4-6 (while the hunters are away the women can play) Encourage shopping <br />downtown on deer opener. Ask the restaurants to offer specials those days to increase traffic downtown. <br />Small Business Saturday Promotions <br />The meeting was adjourned at 3:40PM <br />
