Regardless of the process, if problems or <br /> gaps exist, can the City/EDA a)solve them; and b) can the <br /> improvements be monitored? Desired results will no doubt <br /> improve the system and provide direction for the EDA's economic <br /> development efforts . <br /> ACTION REQUESTED <br /> The EDA is asked to create a Task Force to review the City's <br /> permitting and plan review processes . <br /> 12 . BUSINESS PARK TASK FORCE <br /> The Task Force met on June 29th, July 27th, and August 31st. <br /> It will meet again on September 14th. Much progress has been <br /> made regarding assessing the City' s existing inventory of <br /> industrially-zoned land, identifying suitable park locations, <br /> and exploring potential sources of financing. The basic issue, <br /> beyond identifying one or more suitable locations, is that of <br /> accessing funds for a) land acquisitions; and b) infrastructure <br /> activities. <br /> Task Force Chair, Pat Dwyer, will give Commissioners an update <br /> on progress at Monday's EDA meeting. Commissioners should <br /> refer to the one-page summary of funding sources in preparation <br /> of this topic. <br /> 13. NEWSLETTER TOPICS <br /> It is time once again to begin thinking about a late <br /> summer/early fall EDA newsletter. Topics may include UPA <br /> expansion, Elk River Machine expansion (completed) , Timron <br /> expansion (completed) , Guardian Angels update, Tescom <br /> groundbreaking, Custom Conveyor expansion (completed) , video <br /> project, the D.A.R.E. house, 101 connection update, and the <br /> Business Park Task Force. <br /> 14 . PROSPECT STATUS REPORT <br /> The Prospect Status Report has been sent under separate cover. <br />
