The exhibit was displayed at the following <br /> locations during MN Manufacturing&Technology Week: <br /> Monday The Bank of Elk River <br /> Tuesday Great River Energy-Chamber/EDA luncheon <br /> Wednesday First National Bank of Elk River <br /> Thursday TCF National Bank <br /> Friday American National Bank <br /> Staff requests the EDA's input on future Manufacturing&Technology Week events. Staff <br /> proposes that next year the booth be rotated throughout the local banks during the full <br /> month of October for greater visibility. <br /> V. Public Relations Strategy <br /> Sportech Article <br /> Please see the attached Sportech article. <br /> Energy City <br /> Approximately 100 people attended the Oct. 22nd Elk River Landfill Gas-to-Electric Facility <br /> Open House, organized by staff and Elk River Municipal Utilties. Attendees included U.S. <br /> Senate candidate Jim Moore and Congressman Mark Kennedy. <br /> • The Energy City web site is in the process of being redesigned along with the Energy City <br /> brochure. Staff will continue to work on these items with Steve Rohlf, the web site designer, <br /> and the brochure designer. <br /> Upcoming PR Article <br /> Staff is working with MCPorter Marketing Communications to finalize and article to be <br /> featured in the November MN Real Estate Journal Leasing Guide. <br /> An"update" newsletter is also being developed for Elk River manufacturers. <br /> VI. Strategic Partnership Strategy <br /> Downtown Revitalization Project <br /> Staff and Ehlers &Associates worked with MetroPlains to negotiate a pre-development <br /> agreement for the revitalization of downtown. The HRA accepted the pre-development <br /> agreement on Oct. 28`h. The agreement provides the developer exclusive rights for the next <br /> six months to develop site plan feasibility of a redevelopment project. <br /> VII. Business Retention Strategy <br /> Business Retention Program <br /> Staff is working to develop a schedule for business retention visits over the next two years. <br /> Rather than conducting a formal Business Retention survey,it was recommended in the <br /> marketing action plan that one or two EDA representatives and staff conduct informal <br /> breakfast or lunch meetings with each manufacturer to discuss their needs. <br /> • <br />
