Ms. Haug stated that rather than residents bringing their items to the Public Works
garage as they have in the past, they would obtain a voucher at City Hall and bring the items
directly to the Elk River Landfill. She noted that the number and type of materials that the
resident will be bringing to the landfill will be written on the voucher and the voucher will
have the city embossed seal as to not be reproduced. She indicated that residents will have to
pay a minimal fee as they have in the past and staff is recommending that the City Council
approve funding the remaining amount from the city's landfill abatement fund.

Acting Mayor Morin questioned how the event will be publicized. Ms. Haug indicated that
the event will be advertised in the Star News, on ERTv Channel 12, and through flyers.

City Administrator Pat Klaers stated that the Council suggested having a fall clean up event
when the Annual Reports were discussed.

MOVED BY COUNCILMEMBER TVEITE AND SECONDED BY
COUNCILMEMBER KUESTER TO FUND THE CITY CLEAN UP WEEK
OCTOBER 11-16, 2004 FROM THE LANDFILL ABATEMENT FUND.
MOTION CARRIED 4-0.

5.8.
