Sharing Commissioner Holmgren's
comments, "I fully support accepting the plan. I think it provides a good plan for
the future and addresses all the necessary areas that will be needed to focus on in the
coming months and years. I think it also does a great job of creating a vision for the
City as we move forward when it comes to our parks, the needs of our parks and the
growth of parks in Elk River as well."
Commissioner Ahlness shared that he thought the plan has turned out to be a great
plan.
Mr. Hecker shared some grammar changes that were missed and would like them
added to the motion.
Commissioner Anderson asked why some parks had crosshatching on them and
what it meant.
Commissioner Anderson asked why the "Place 50'natural riparian buffers between
lawns and water on all public land."was removed on page 65 and that it should be
reinserted with a change in language. Change on all public land to on all appropriate
public land or parks.
Mr. Hecker stated it was removed due to the statement of on all pubkc land instead of
parks.
Commissioner Anderson stated that on page 84 the word patch should be changed to
parcel.
Moved by Commissioner Kallemeyn and seconded by Commissioner Sagan
to recommend to City Council to approve the Parks and Recreation Master
Plan with the following changes.
1. Grammar changes shared by Mr. Hecker.
2. Adding back statement on page 65; Place 50' natural riparian buffers
between lawns and water on all appropriate public land and parks.
3. Change the word patch to parcel on page 84.
Commissioner Nystrom shared a concern that the phrase reduction of chemicals on
the same page as adding a buffer on page 65 should be changed.
Commissioner Niziolek suggested minimization of chemicals instead of reduction of
chemicals.
Commissioner Kallemeyn amended his motion with adding minimization of
411 chemicals.
111111E1 / 1
INATUREI
