Parks&Recreation Commission Minutes Page 4 <br /> April 8,2015 <br /> • 6.5 221St Avenue Trail and Parking <br /> Mr. Leeseberg presented his staff report. Sharing that affected property owners are <br /> not interested in selling their property to have a trail go through it. <br /> Commissioner Anderson asked to clarify staff recommendation by adding that the <br /> majority of affected property owners are not interested in selling their property. <br /> Moved by Commissioner Niziolek and seconded by Commissioner Sagan to <br /> accept staff recommendation stating that majority of the affected property <br /> owners are not interested in selling their property. Motion carried 6-0. <br /> Commissioner Anderson thanked staff for the great amount of detailed information <br /> that would be sent to council. <br /> Commissioner Anderson discussed the parking issue on 221'Avenue asking if the <br /> traffic counts come in from the Police Department. <br /> Mr. Hecker said no counts had been shared to date. <br /> Commissioner Anderson suggested to focus parking on Quinn Street if no parking <br /> signs are installed on 221'Avenue asking if class 5 gravel could be installed on the <br /> shoulder of Quinn. <br /> 1111 Moved by Commissioner Kallemeyn and seconded by Commissioner <br /> Niziolek to recommend that the Police Department decide if no parking signs <br /> should be installed and if they are then directional signs for where to park be <br /> installed. Motion carried 6-0. <br /> 6.6 Major Park Use - Woodland Trails Park - The Church.of Jesus Christ <br /> of Latter Day Saints 5k Run <br /> Mr. Benoit presented his staff report. <br /> Commissioner Anderson requested that organizers of future races held at Woodland <br /> Trails Park provide a map of the race course. <br /> Commissioner Niziolek shared the idea of coming up with a protocol of a standard <br /> way of running a race in Woodland Trails Park as it is becoming more popular. <br /> Commissioner Anderson asked that the host put up the three "Event in Progress" <br /> signs, one at parking area,and other two signs on the Great Northern Trail;north <br /> and south of their activity and that the park to remain open to all users. <br /> Moved by Commissioner Ahlness and seconded by Commissioner Nystrom <br /> • to accept staff recommendation to allow The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter <br /> Day Saints 5k Run on May 9,2015; adding that group uses three "Event in <br /> 10 / Eui1 � r <br /> NATURE <br />
