“This letter is an opportunity to express our gratitude and appreciation for the phenomenal experience we had
working with Spohn Ranch. Through the entire process Spohn Ranch was committed to helping us reach our
desired outcome and that was clear through the entire year of collaboration. As we conceptualized, designed
and built the skate park. Due to our lack of knowledge we needed a lot of guidance and assistance and Spohn
Ranch provided that during each step. Perhaps most noteworthy and helpful was the way the team is
designed. Each phase afforded us the opportunity to work with a different senior staff on the Spohn Ranch
team; consistently what was demonstrated was a passion for skating, a desire to work collaboratively and true
commitment to the project.
Spohn Ranch demonstrated again and again their willingness to work with multiple players, follow agency
protocol and make this BIG project run smoothly. This was a large endeavor for our agency both in terms of a
paradigm shift in embracing a new and different ways of programming for our children, and in terms of the
financial commitment. I can say wholeheartedly we are overwhelming pleased with the results and would
recommend Spohn Ranch with no reservations.”
- Angela Chambers, Vice President of Educational Services

“I want to extend my sincere thanks to the dedicated Spohn Ranchers who went above and beyond in their
role as designers and builders of our new skatepark at Woodside Park.
We presented you with a real challenge – a site that had unique constraints on all four sides. Even with a
retaining wall on one end, a specimen tree at the opposite end, and a gym wall and basketball court on the
respective sides – your design department emerged with the perfect solution. The sculptural nature of the
elements combined with the aesthetic appeal of the colored concrete, made the skatepark seamlessly
integrate with the rest of the park. As I mentioned previously, I intend to submit this project for a design
award. The project is an excellent example of a reuse project in an urban environment.
Exceeding our expectations at every step of the way, the passion and professionalism of Spohn Ranch was
vital in the enduring success of our skate spot. Your crew came exactly on time (something like 4 am in the
morning and they were still on California time!) and worked seamlessly with our Central Maintenance masonry
staff in an incredible collaboration.
Going beyond the role of designer and builder, I also appreciated the follow up after the project was
completed. When dealing with fencing issues and conflicts between basketball players and skateboarders, we
were blessed with incredible insight and guidance that only a well-rounded firm like yours could provide.
Thanks again for a job well done.”
- Ellen Masciocchi, Project Manager

WOODSIDE SKATEPARK – Silver Spring, Maryland
BOARD OF CHILD CARE SKATEPARK – Baltimore, Maryland
