City Council Minutes Page 3
July 24, 2000

bumps onto lawns. Mr. Haugen suggested a parking lot in the middle of the
street for the nearby park.

Todd Kimley, 196r. Lane, stated that he submitted a petition of residents opposing
a cul-de-sac on Auburn Street. Mr. Kimley felt that if emergency personnel were
opposed to the cul-de-sac then it should not be installed.

Tricia Juneau, 196r" Lane, commented that she would like the cul-de-sac and
believes it would create parking areas for the park. Ms. Juneau stated her
concerns about people parking in the street if a cul-de-sac is installed.

Kristi Fischer, Zane and 196r", believes a cul-de-sac should not be installed
because it would change police, fire, school, and mail routes.

Paul Cravin, Wilson Street and 196th, stated that traffic should be slowed down. Mr.
Cravin suggested that a dead-end be put in at Wilson Street.

Greg Davis, Zane Court, informed the council that he is opposed to a cul-de-sac
and does not believe this access should be blocked. Mr. Davis stated his concern
of emergency personnel not being able to get through in a timely manner. Mr.
Davis commented that a change in Auburn Street would affect property values
and that he has paid taxes to have the road put in. Mr. Davis felt that everyone's
needs should be looked at and not just the neighborhood. Mr. Davis stated that
alternative solutions should be considered in order to make Auburn Street safe.

Mike Baker, 11083 196r" Circle, opposes putting in a cul-de-sac. Mr. Baker agreed
with staff recommendations and felt that the city should look at alternative
solutions such as stop signs.

Gary Weaver, 19438 Auburn Street, stated that Auburn Street needs more
accesses. Mr. Weaver suggested traffic be slowed down and blind spots on the
street be remedied.

Melanie Wynn, 11099 196r. Street, asked that some kind of solution be looked at
for making Auburn Street safe. Ms. Wynn stated that the solution wouldn't
necessarily have to be a cul-de-sac.

Tina Simmons, 19501 Auburn Street, stated that she wants a cul-de-sac installed
and the park also installed.

Council recessed for a 5-minute break.

Merlin Blair, Wilson Street, suggested the city look at other alternatives, such as
more stop signs, lower speed limits, or more exits, before considering a cul-de-sac.

David Hovich stated he would like to see a cul-de-sac installed on Auburn Street.

Mayor Klinzing closed the public comment.

Councilmember Thompson stated that break-aways would not do any good as
teens would go right through them, and he suggested putting a dead-end on
