Housing and Redevelopment.Authority Minutes Page 3 <br /> January 28, 2002 <br /> • <br /> The Director of Economic Development indicated that as an alternative to TIF the City may <br /> consider the use of Tax Rebate Financing for projects that meet the City's economic <br /> development goals or be open to considering a smaller sized project without assistance from <br /> the city. <br /> Commissioner Motin stated that he prefers to see a bigger project in the area that would <br /> include the apartments and possibly some of the residential homes. He noted that access <br /> would be a concern if the project did not include a larger area. Commissioner Thompson <br /> indicated that he feels retail development should stand on its own without the use of TIF. <br /> Chair Toth briefly discussed the information packet that was distributed with the HRA <br /> packet relating to housing issues. <br /> 7. Consider Calling Special Meeting for February 4,2002 <br /> COMMISSIONER THOMPSON MOVED TO CALL A SPECIAL MEETING OF <br /> THE HRA FOR FEBRUARY 4,2002,TO DISCUSS THE DOWNTOWN <br /> RIVERFRONT REVITALIZATION PROJECT. COMMISSIONER MOTIN <br /> SECONDED THE MOTION.THE MOTION CARRIED 5-0. <br /> 8. Other Business <br /> • <br /> • Catherine distributed draft copies of the Downtown Riverfront Revitalization Project Q&A <br /> newsletter and announced an open house is scheduled for February 12,4-6 pm,at city hall to <br /> give the public an opportunity to review the design concepts and provide comment. <br /> 9. Adjournment <br /> There being no other business, COMMISSIONER THOMPSON MOVED TO <br /> ADJOURN THE MEETING. COMMISSIONER LIESER SECONDED THE <br /> MOTION.
