Trinity Episcopal Church and its first building was erected in <br /> the late 1850s at 1915 Second Street. 7°The structure was <br /> moved to Elk River in 1877.The present building at 1326 <br /> Fourth Street N.W.dates from 1890-1. <br /> The United Christian Society of Elk River was organized ca. <br /> 1866,and the Union Church ca.1875.The present Union <br /> Church building at 1118 Fourth Street N.W.was erected in <br /> 1881.It was designed and built by W.F.Chadbourne of Elk <br /> River.The memorial windows were dedicated in 1923.71 The <br /> Meadowvale Church in Elk River Township was a branch of <br /> this congregation;it was organized in ca.1920. <br /> The Methodist Episcopal Church was founded in 1875.The <br /> congregation met in the Orono schoolhouse until a church was <br /> built north of the railroad tracks in 1889.A new church was <br /> erected in 1916 along the Jefferson Highway near Minnesota <br /> Street.72 <br /> The Emmanuel German Lutheran Church was organized in <br /> 1918.
