The first level has modern display windows.The historic building behind the <br /> screen may have been damaged in a fire in 1914.Historic photos show an earlier <br /> building with arched upper-story windows,and another view (ca. 1917)with large <br /> rectangular upper-story display windows. <br /> Significance <br /> This building is locally significant as an important survivor of an early twentieth century <br /> commercial block. However,it is not known how much historic fabric survives behind <br /> the metal screen. <br /> A building shown on this site on the 1899 Sanborn Map is labeled the Opera House. <br /> This building was apparently destroyed in a fire and rebuilt by 1911. <br /> 0 <br />
