AlfN.,N'.--' — . ..‘kk,\"-w'itt,r <br /> H) <br /> BAtx Ai § <br /> A BANK' \�`� ` <br /> s <br /> Address: 304 Jackson Street <br /> PIN: Legal: <br /> SHPO Inventory#: pending <br /> • Historic Name: Houlton Building <br /> Current Name: Credit America <br /> Builder/Contractor: <br /> Original Owner/Tenant: <br /> Architect/Source: Thomas Tudor,Minneapolis,architect for remodeling <br /> Date of Original Construction: 1906;1955 remodeling <br /> Date of Survey: March 2002 <br /> Prepared by: Carole Zellie/Landscape Research <br /> Photo: <br /> Property Number: 1 <br /> Description <br /> This two-story cream brick building occupies a prominent corner lot at the northeast <br /> corner of Jackson and Main streets.The flat-roofed building has a canted corner still <br /> crowned by a parapet inscribed with Houlton,for W.H.Houlton,the original owner. <br /> The rectangular windows have prominent brick voussoirs and there are four courses of <br /> brick banding under the deep wood cornice.Each window has a rusticated stone sill. <br /> The 1955 remodeling included the installation of a reddish brown polished granite <br /> facing on the entire first floor,with large display windows replacing the originals.The <br /> upper story windows were not altered,but the tripartite corner window was removed. <br /> Extensive remodeling was also completed on the interior. <br /> • The original roofline of the building had stepped and gabled parapets,and tripartite <br /> bays ations.The corner bay appears to have been a later <br /> addition,and all the bays were on the east and south elev removed by 1955. <br />
