• St.Andrew's Roman Catholic Church was organized about <br /> 1890.The first church building was a simple frame structure.A <br /> new building was begun in 1921 and the congregation used the <br /> basement unti119xx? <br /> Sherburne County Courthouse <br /> When Sherburne County was created from Benton County in <br /> 1856,the first seat was at Humboldt,later known as Big Lake. <br /> There was no permanent courthouse,with business transacted <br /> in private homes and schoolhouses.In 1867,Orono became the <br /> county seat,where a schoolhouse was used for county <br /> purposes.In 1877 a new courthouse was completed on Oak <br /> Street between Main and Depot streets. The two-story hipped- <br /> roof frame building was designed by W.C.Warner and built by <br /> Horatio Houlton,an Elk River contractor.
