Mehelich, Catherine
From: Campshoe [campshoe @sherbtel.net]
Went: Tuesday, September 30, 2003 2:06 PM
o: cmehelich@ci.elk-river.mn.us
Subject: Downtown
Dear Director Mehelich,
I cannot believe that the officials of the City of Elk River would even
consider losing the wide open space that is refered to as Jackson Square.
That space, with the flagpole, and the new gazebo (remember, there was one
there a long time ago) is part of Elk River's identity.
I have been a resident of Elk River for 14 years, but as a child my parents
and I came through elk river from Minneapolis every weekend. I vewry much
miss the old iron bridge. I realize that the iron bridge had to be replaced,
but please do not erase all semblance of the identy of this historic town.
Any monetary gain cannot possibly be enough to pay for the loss of the
openess of our present downtown. I do aggree with the part of the plan that
is call the bluff block. I cannot even fathom how anyone would want to build
the Jackson Block Development.
I emplore you, please do not do this to our downtown!
Steve Camp
1134 4th Street NW
Elk River, MN 55330
763-441-1875
•
•
1
