bo

do

possible sharing of parking area for high school (if School District
provides crossover / more safety areas);

with existing park, schools and Boys & Girls Club, already viewed as
the community area;

Quieter facility which is more agreeable to local residents.

ii. Cons: cost / environmental cleanup?

Congestion (maybe not - facility would likely be busiest when schools
are not in session (evening, weekends, summer));

Loss of other commercial / industrial potential

Lake Orono - City space

i. Pros: cost - land is already owned by City; close proximity to City Hall
(though why is this deemed desirable?);

ii. Cons: not centrally located. Difficult for most residents to get to without
transportation;

limits future City Hall expansion;

placing the aquatic center right next to what is now the only other
swimming facility;

disturbing the natural setting of the area.

County Road 12 and Fillmore

i. Pros: Likely to be less costly than Morrell site;
Lots of space for expansion;

School District has been discussing possible eastern Elk River site for
elementary school. (With Trott Brook Farms, the future Rick Foster
development (to the east of Trott Brook), likely residential
development of property to the south and southwest, including
extension of sewer and water along 175% this seems like a very good
location for the school);

Bike trail already planned for expansion of County Road 12;

Cons: Location - not central to City (but better than Lake Orono)

Other Sites ???

-2-
