City Council Minutes <br />April 3, 2000 <br /> <br />Page 2 <br /> <br />4. CIP WORKSESSION <br /> <br />Highway 169 Brid.qe Plaque <br /> <br />Mike Twaddle appeared before the Council to request permission to place two <br />plaques on the pedestrian bridge in honor of his son. He requested council <br />approval of the language on the plaque. He also stated that he is not requesting <br />the city to pay for the plaques. <br /> <br />The Council discussed the pros and cons of installing plaques on the bridge. It was <br />the consensus of the council that Mike Twaddle was instrumental in getting the <br />pedestrian bridge built, however, the council did not come to a consensus on <br />whether it was appropriate to have plaques installed. <br /> <br />COUNCILMEMBER THOMPSON MOVED TO ALLOW MIKE TWADDLE TO INSTALL TWO <br />PLAQUES ON THE BRIDGE IN HONOR OF HIS SON. COUNCILMEMBER FARBER <br />SECONDED THE MOTION. THE MOTION FAILED 2-3. MAYOR KLINZING, <br />COUNCILMEMBERS DIETZ AND MOTIN VOTED NAY. COUNCILMEMBERS THOMPSON <br />AND FARBER VOTED AYE. <br /> <br />The City Administrator informed the council of the bridge grand opening <br />ceremony scheduled for April 17. It was suggested by the Council that the <br />ceremony be held at 3:00 p.m. <br /> <br />COUNCILMEMBER MOTIN MOVED TO CALL A SPECIAL MEETING OF THE CITY <br />COUNCIL FOR APRIL 17, 2000 AT 3 PM FOR THE PURPOSE OF GATHERING AT THE <br />PEDESTRIAN BRIDGE DEDICATION AND THE BOYS AND GIRLS CLUB OPEN HOUSE. <br />COUNCILMEMBER DIETZ SECONDED THE MOTION. THE MOTION CARRIED 5-0. <br /> <br />Public Improvement Proiects <br /> <br />The City Engineer reviewed the status of current projects as identified and <br />outlined in his 3/23/00 memo. <br /> <br />The City Administrator distributed a handout of the 1999 capital improvement <br />summary information. The handout contained project description, cost and <br />financing information for CIP projects for 1999-2001. The City Administrator <br />explained that some of the projects on the summary will take place under a <br />different time frame than projected. <br /> <br />Lar.qe Meeting Room/Banquet Room Space Options and Possible Joint City <br />School Proiects <br /> <br />The City Administrator informed the Council that this item is on the agenda for the <br />purpose of brain-storming. He explained that the following issues should be <br />addressed: <br /> <br />· whether or not joint space with the school should be pursued <br />· what are the city's needs <br />· should the city be looking at a large multi-purpose meeting room <br />· where the facility should be located <br /> <br /> <br />
