Open Mike <br /> <br />5.1. <br /> <br />Cliff Lundberg stated his support of hiring Jeff Gongoll as the city's economic <br />development director. <br /> <br />Authorization to Hire Secretary/Receptionist <br /> <br />COUNCILMEMBER FARBER MOVED TO HIRE ROBIN HARTFIEL AS THE SECRETARY/ <br />RECEPTIONIST AT PAY GRADE 5, STEP A, $10.36 PER HOUR BEGINNING FEBRUARY 28, <br />CONTINGENT ON A SUCCESSFUL CRIMINAL HISTORY AND DRIVER'S LICENSE CHECK. <br />COUNCILMEMBER MOTIN SECONDED THE MOTION. THE MOTION CARRIED 5-0. <br /> <br />5.2. Request to Purchase Si.qna.qe for Northbound Liquor <br /> <br />Northbound Manager David Potvin requested council authorization to replace <br />the existing Northbound Liquor sign on the front of the building with a new sign <br />that will be more visible and easier to read. <br /> <br />COUNCILMEMBER MOTIN MOVED TO ACCEPT THE QUOTE FROM ARROW SIGN AND <br />AWNING IN THE AMOUNT OF $9,985.00 FOR THE PURCHASE AND INSTALLATION OF <br />NEW SIGNAGE FOR NORTHBOUND LIQUOR. COUNCILMEMBER FARBER SECONDED <br />THE MOTION. THE MOTION CARRIED 5-0. <br /> <br />5.3. Meetin.q Schedule <br /> <br />The city administrator reviewed the council meeting schedule for the next several <br />months. <br /> <br />It was the consensus of the council to meet with MnDOT sometime in May, <br />excluding the first week of May, and that it would be acceptable to meet on <br />April 3 at 5 p.m. for a special CIP meeting if necessary. <br /> <br />COUNCILMEMBER THOMPSON MOVED TO CALL A SPECIAL MEETING OF THE CITY <br />COUNCIL, ACTING AS THE LOCAL BOARD OF REVIEW, FOR MAY 1,2000, AT 6 PM TO <br />BE HELD AT THE SHERBURNE COUNTY GOVERNMENT CENTER. COUNCILMEMBER <br />FARBER SECONDED THE MOTION. THE MOTION CARRIED 5-0. <br /> <br />5.4. Update on 2/7/00 School Board Meetin.q with City Councils and Township Boards <br /> <br />Mayor Klinzing and Councilmember Motin updated the Council on the 2/7/00 <br />School Board meeting. It was noted that there was good representation of all <br />cities and towns and that discussion was held regarding such topics as expected <br />growth, commuter rail, economic development, and alternative funding for the <br />school district. <br /> <br />5.5. <br /> <br />Consider The Brimeyer Group Proposal for Director of Economic Development <br />Search <br /> <br />The city administrator reviewed the issue of filling the economic development <br />director position.
