Jesse Ventura wi]l start a two-day bus trip through central' Minnesota on the morning of Feb. 9 at Elk River High. School. WCCO-AM radio ' will broadcast the "Good Mor- ning Show" Jesse Ventura with Dave Lee and Kim Jeffries from the high school starting at 5 a.m. Ventura Will come later, and he plans to speak to students and commu-' nity members from 8:30 to 9 a.m. in the gymnasium of the school, located at 900 School St. The public is invited. On the governor's agenda will be the upcoming legislative session and his proposals relat- ed to transportation, agricul- ture, a one-house legislature and telecommunications. Other topics may come up, according to Ventura's commu- nications department. A variety of state and local dignitaries Will be invited to the program. Parking at the high school for the event will be at a premium, Principal Jim Voight said. The public will be asked to park in the north lot in the bus loading area. They won't be able to park in the student lot, the ice arena lot or in faculty parking stalls in the north loft 'There will probably be parking for the event available at Central Lutheran Church and Lions Park across the street from the high school, Voight said. The governor will visit 12 cities and one township on his tour. Besides Elk River, he will make Stops in Big 'Lake, Becker, Foley, Royalton, Little Falls, Long Prairie and Alexandria on the first day of the tour. The second day he will hit Glenwood, Belgrade, Paynesville, Cold Spring and St. Augusta Township. Elk River Mayor StePhanie Klinzing was invited to be on last Friday's "Lunch with the Governor" radio program to promote the tour. Ventura was not 'on the air this particular Friday because he was on 'vacation, but Klinzing sat in with John Wodele, Ventura's communica- tions director, and David Ruth, also of Ventura's communica- tions team. Klinzing said the three Of them "chit-chatted" about the advantages of small-.town liv- ing, citizen involvement and Elk River's top newsmakers of the century. Our community just needs to know about the need and then there's a huge response. "They just have to be informed, even with as fast as the~city is. growing.'~ Klinzing said at the request of the hosts, they did not talk about politics or any contro- versial topics like school crowding in Elk River public schools. "A lot of people heard the program," Klinzing said. "I was really surprised by the aumber of t~eopLe that did ~..
