Jesse Ventura wi]l start <br />a two-day bus trip through <br />central' <br />Minnesota on <br />the morning <br />of Feb. 9 at <br />Elk River <br />High. School. <br /> WCCO-AM <br />radio ' will <br />broadcast the <br />"Good Mor- <br />ning Show" Jesse Ventura <br />with Dave Lee and Kim <br />Jeffries from the high school <br /> <br />starting at 5 a.m. Ventura Will <br />come later, and he plans to <br />speak to students and commu-' <br />nity members from 8:30 to 9 <br />a.m. in the gymnasium of the <br />school, located at 900 School <br />St. The public is invited. <br /> On the governor's agenda will <br />be the upcoming legislative <br />session and his proposals relat- <br />ed to transportation, agricul- <br />ture, a one-house legislature <br />and telecommunications. <br />Other topics may come up, <br />according to Ventura's commu- <br />nications department. <br /> A variety of state and local <br /> <br />dignitaries Will be invited to <br />the program. <br /> Parking at the high school for <br />the event will be at a premium, <br />Principal Jim Voight said. The <br />public will be asked to park in <br />the north lot in the bus loading <br />area. They won't be able to <br />park in the student lot, the ice <br />arena lot or in faculty parking <br />stalls in the north loft 'There <br />will probably be parking for <br />the event available at Central <br />Lutheran Church and Lions <br />Park across the street from the <br />high school, Voight said. <br /> The governor will visit 12 <br /> <br />cities and one township on his <br />tour. Besides Elk River, he will <br />make Stops in Big 'Lake, <br />Becker, Foley, Royalton, Little <br />Falls, Long Prairie and <br />Alexandria on the first day of <br />the tour. The second day he <br />will hit Glenwood, Belgrade, <br />Paynesville, Cold Spring and <br />St. Augusta Township. <br /> Elk River Mayor StePhanie <br />Klinzing was invited to be on <br />last Friday's "Lunch with the <br />Governor" radio program to <br />promote the tour. <br /> Ventura was not 'on the air <br />this particular Friday because <br /> <br />he was on 'vacation, but <br />Klinzing sat in with John <br />Wodele, Ventura's communica- <br />tions director, and David Ruth, <br />also of Ventura's communica- <br />tions team. <br /> Klinzing said the three Of <br />them "chit-chatted" about the <br />advantages of small-.town liv- <br />ing, citizen involvement and <br />Elk River's top newsmakers of <br />the century. <br /> The mayor expressed her <br />pride in how residents have <br />stepped in to help the Mark <br /> <br />Governor cont'd to page !3 <br /> <br />Governor <br /> <br />Continued from page 1 <br /> <br />and Kim Ahner family in their <br />time of need. Our community just <br />needs to know about the need <br /> <br />and then there's a huge <br />response. <br /> "They just have to be <br />informed, even with as fast as <br />the~city is. growing.'~ <br /> Klinzing said at the request <br />of the hosts, they did not talk <br />about politics or any contro- <br />versial topics like school <br />crowding in Elk River public <br /> <br />schools. <br /> "A lot of people heard the <br />program," Klinzing said.
