Elk River City Council Meeting <br />January 24, 2000 <br /> <br />Page 3 <br /> <br />4.6, <br /> <br />4,7, <br /> <br />Board of Review Meetin.q <br /> <br />The city clerk informed the council that the local Board of Review meeting has <br />been tentatively scheduled for Wednesday, April 26, 2000. The City Council <br />requested the clerk to contact the county assessor to see if the meeting could <br />possibly be held on a Monday. <br /> <br />Consider Hirin.q Process for Director of Economic Development <br /> <br />The city administrator informed the council that the EDA made a motion to support <br />Jeff Gongoil as an applicant for the director of economic development position. It <br />was the consensus of the council that they concurred with the EDA <br />recommendation that Jeff Gongoll would be a good candidate for the position. <br />Discussion was held regarding selecting and hiring process. It was suggested that a <br />committee be formed including a member of the council, EDA, HRA, and staff to <br />interview Jeff Gongoll. It was suggested that Jim Brimeyer be contacted and to <br />possibly have him sit in on the interview to give an unbiased opinion. <br /> <br />It was the consensus of the City Council to authorize the city administrator to <br />contact Jim Brimeyer to discuss procedure options for the selection process. <br /> <br />5. Open Mike <br /> <br />7,1, <br /> <br />Rolfe Anderson, 19411 irving Circle, indicated his concern regarding litter in and <br />around the Elk Park Center project. <br /> <br />Consider Fire Inspector or Assistant Fire Chief Position for Fire Department <br /> <br />The city administrator noted that the fire chief has requested to delay action on this <br />item. <br /> <br />8. Staff Updates <br /> <br />The city administrator informed the council that the city attorney is pursuing the <br />summons and complaint on a civil basis for the Tim Smith situation. <br /> <br />9. Other Business <br /> <br />Councilmember Farber noted that he had received complaints from property <br />owners regarding snowmobilers riding on private property. He requested more <br />enforcement from the police department. Councilmember Dietz indicated he <br />has also received many calls regarding this issue and suggested that the Park and <br />Recreation Commission discuss this issue and possibly map out an area or routes <br />where snowmobiles can be used. <br /> <br />The City Council recessed to the training room at 7:05 p.m. The City Council reconvened <br />in a joint meeting with District 728 School Board at 7:13 p.m. <br /> <br />The following School Board Members were present: Dr. David Flannery, Mark Strater, Patti <br />Scharber, MJ Swanson and Linda Ritchie. <br /> <br /> <br />
