City Council Minutes Page 4 March 2, 2015 8.2 Wastewater Treatment Faciiiy Orn> prrovements Change Order Mr. Femrite presented the staff report. Moved by Councilmember Wagner and seconded by Councilmember Olsen to approve Changer Order #1 for the Wastewater Treatment Facility Improvement project as outlined in the staff report. Motion carried 4 -0. 8.3 Discuss Work Session items Mr. Portner presented the staff report. Mayor Dietz questioned the timing of some of the work session items listed. Mr. Portner stated staff should be ready to present updates on the blight and residential rental code soon. He noted the 2215` Avenue trail improvement was referred back to the Parks and Recreation Commission. 9d ' Council Unison Updates The Council provided updates of the works of the various boards/ commissions. The City Council recessed at 7:12 in order to go into a work session meeting. The meeting reconvened at 7:17 p.m. Q 0. l City Facility Security Mayor Dietz stated he asked staff to explore additional security measures in light of the recent events at a New Hope City Council meeting. Chief Nierenhausen stated there are various options for increasing security including but not limited to having an officer at each Council meeting, environmental changes, and training so Councilmembers are prepared in the event of an incident. After some discussion, the Council opted for Chief Nierenhausen to put together some training for the Council, including actual scenarios in the Council Chambers. The Council asked Mr. Beck to research whether there is an exception to the Open Meeting Law for the Council to conduct security training. o Adjournment There being no further business, Mayor Dietz adjourned the meeting of the Elk River City Council at 7:37p.m. Minutes prepared by Jessica Miller. ohn J.
