Amateur Sports Commission Notice of Request for Proposals for Mighty Kids Youth Sports Grant Fragrant Kit' 1. Background The state of Minnesota, acting through its agency,the Minnesota Amateur Sports Commission(MASC),is se.king interested applicants for a youth spa=and recreation gran program. Purpose The purpose of this grant is to assist Minnesota communities its the start-up of programming or the expar.sioo of existing youth sports, recreational, and other letsure activities. Programs should provide youth spon activities for the entire cotamumty and empties:2e access for under-served.low-income,or at tisk youth. Grants are not intended to fond lCtaaesota Stam Elgh School League sports or activities. Proposals=sr.contain a plan to ensure equal aces for youth of=la gaudier. 3. Objectives This funding is provided to increase the involvement of at-risk youth in before-school,after-school,and suttmer through partnerships that effectively utilize and build on existing community resources. Each a pilcaar should.address bariets ro participation by youth, such as naasportation issues and program fees. Programs should focus on one or more of the following goals: • 0 A. Increasing the number of youth participating in programming B. Increasing rho athletic skills of your pig in prop ng; C. Direct or indirect impact on academic acid:wa der.and school atteudan : D. Direct or indirect impact on social skills of youth participating in programming; E. t irxt or indirect impact on juvenile crime rate in local community: F. Enourage communities and organizations to work in partnership to develop a cdve youth sports programming. 4. Eligibility The applicant must be a political subdivision of the State of of nuesota. Grant Amounts Gram awards will range in size from approximately 5500 to$20,000. Marc-ins fumds from non-state sour==will be required :tar all gran awards greater than$2,500. Groat tryua to be two-tar$2401 and SS,000 will be required to provide akrr;,anal funds from non-state sources of at least one half of the pant amount, Grans requests between$5,001 and$20,000 will be required to providc a dollar for dollar match from non-state source.
